Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry at Hazara University, being one of the pioneer departments, was established in 2002. Initially, the Department offered a 4-year honors bachelor’s degree program. In 2004, MPhil and PhD programs were introduced. At present, the Department offers admissions in all degree programs twice a year. The Department has a highly competent and qualified faculty comprising 03 Associate Professors, 02 Assistant Professors, 04 Lecturers, and 02 Teaching Assistants. The faculty members have published extensively in reputed international journals and have specializations in diverse areas including Biochemistry, Environmental Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Protein Chemistry, and Enzymology. The courses offered provide students not only with comprehensive knowledge of basic Biochemistry but also with in-depth exposure to Molecular Biology and related fields, preparing them to meet future scientific challenges. Currently, the Department has secured two research projects that will further strengthen its research activities. To promote academic and research excellence, the Department is also actively collaborating with various research centers and institutes.

 

 The vision of the Department of Biochemistry is to provide quality education at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. This will produce high-tech professionals who will play a vital role in the economic growth of the country.
 

To serve the people of the community, the province, and the nation through the provision of the highest standards of education and training in the broad areas of Biochemistry, and to pursue Biochemical research that will further increase and enhance the scientific knowledge of mankind and lead to improvements in human and animal health and welfare. 

Biochemistry explores how the various processes occurring within the body are linked to growth, health, and the development of disease. It provides a framework for understanding metabolic interactions and their impact on both normal physiology and pathological conditions. The Department of Biochemistry at Hazara University was established in 2002, the Department has been committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. With a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty, we are offering undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs designed to provide students with a strong foundation in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and related disciplines. Our mission is to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and research culture among students so they can contribute meaningfully to addressing scientific and societal challenges. The Department is actively engaged in collaborative research and has produced quality publications in international journals of repute.
