The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Hazara University (HU), Mansehra, offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including BS programs in Mathematics, Mathematics with Finance, Statistics, and Statistics with Data Science; MPhil programs in Mathematics and Statistics; and a PhD program in Mathematics. These programs are designed to equip students with strong conceptual foundations, advanced computational skills, and a disciplined analytical mindset, enabling them to apply quantitative reasoning effectively in both personal and professional contexts.

Established in 2002, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics is one of the founding and oldest departments of Hazara University. Since its inception, the Department has consistently contributed to the fulfillment of the University's mission, vision, and strategic objectives, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and compliance with national and international accreditation standards.
The Department offers a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including BS (Honours) degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as MPhil and PhD programs. These programs comprise a broad spectrum of courses that provide both strong theoretical foundations and practical relevance. In accordance with the Revised Undergraduate and Graduate Education Policy (2025) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, the Department has undertaken a comprehensive revision of its curricula. To address the evolving demands of the modern world and align with global academic and scientific developments, new programs such as Mathematics with Finance and Statistics with Data Science have been introduced.
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics is also recognized for its vibrant research culture and significant scholarly contributions. Research activities are organized around three major specializations: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics. Faculty members and graduate students actively engage in a wide range of research areas, including Computational Mathematics, Fuzzy Algebra, Group Theory, Algebra, Fluid Dynamics, Mathematical Modeling, Mathematical Statistics, Probability Distributions, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Statistical Quality Control, and Bayesian Inference.
