History of HU

Hazara University Mansehra, situated in Dhodial near Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was established under the Hazara University Act of 1997 and became operational in 2001. It was formally inaugurated on April 14, 2002, by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Initially functioning from existing government buildings, the institution gradually expanded into a prominent center of higher education for the Hazara region.

Despite significant challenges, most notably the devastating earthquake of 2005, Hazara University sustained its academic and administrative functions and continued to progress. Over the years, it has diversified its academic programs and established various faculties, including Arts, Sciences, Law, and specialized fields such as Archaeology, reflecting the rich historical and cultural significance of the region.

With its emphasis on research, cultural preservation, and academic excellence, Hazara University has played a vital role in extending higher education opportunities to both urban and remote communities of northern Pakistan. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience, growth, and intellectual development in the region.
