The Department of Islamic and Religious Studies at Hazara University, established in 2007, aims to provide a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of Islam. It offers interdisciplinary programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels, combining classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary academic disciplines to meet the intellectual and societal needs of students. The department initiated its M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in 2008 and later introduced the BS Islamic and Religious Studies (4-year) program in Fall 2015. In addition to academic excellence, the department regularly organizes workshops, seminars, conferences and Quiz competitions to broaden the scholars’ perspectives and equip them with knowledge relevant to modern scientific, technological, and social developments.

The study of Islam is, in essence, the study of life itself. It guides human thought, shapes moral behavior, and inspires a balanced approach to both faith and reason. At Hazara University, the Department of Islamic and Religious Studies has been serving this noble cause since its establishment in 2007.
Our purpose is to create an environment where learning becomes a means of understanding Islam as a living, dynamic faith — one that speaks to the heart and mind alike. The department is committed to preparing students who can think critically, act responsibly, and contribute positively to society through the light of Islamic teachings.
With a sincere and dedicated faculty, we continue our efforts to strengthen the link between knowledge and character. Through teaching, research, and dialogue, we aim to develop individuals who live by the values of honesty, humility, and service, and who can face the challenges of the modern world with wisdom and faith.
