Prof. Dr. Syed Kashif Haleem

About Me

Dr. Kashif Haleem earned his doctorate from the Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation, University of Leicester, UK. After completing the Doctorate in 2012, he joined the Department of Microbiology and currently serving as Professor of Microbiology. Over the years, he developed a strong foundation in Teaching and research, which was reflected in his progression from Lecturer to Professor and the Chairman of the Department. Microbiology and Immunology are major areas of his research. Currently, he is focusing his research on various molecular aspects of the interaction of the host immune system against different infectious microorganisms, with the emphasis on the complement system in fighting these pathogens, aiming to investigate the potential of several complement components as therapeutics. He is executing one NRPU project worth 5.2 million, investigating the complement-driven immune responses against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition to the above-mentioned areas, he has also conducted research in other areas of Microbiology.
