Prof. Dr. Sajid Ali is a leading scientist from Agriculture with worldwide recognition for his work on different crops, particularly his findings on wheat rust diseases. Dr. Ali has obtained his PhD from Paris-XI University, France with extra-ordinary mention according to the French system. Dr. Ali has completed two Post-Doctoral Fellowships, including the competitive Marie Curie Agreenskills+ Fellowship. Dr. Ali has worked as postdoctoral fellow at the GRRC, Aarhus University, Denmark during 2014 and at the University SupAgro, Montpellier, France during 2017. Dr. Ali is the world-leader in studying population genomics of crops and pathogens in the Himalayan and Hindukush regions of Pakistan. He has published over 65 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading journals such as PLoS Pathogen, Molecular Ecology, Environmental Microbiology. His work attracted over 3000 citations which is outstanding for his early career stage. Apart from basic research on genetics and genomics, Dr. Ali has vast contribution to the improvement of Agriculture in the country. Dr. Ali remained the breeder of Crop varieties of wheat, Brassica and Common bean. Dr. Ali has huge experience of doing outreach activities in the country, specifically, in the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. One of his research project funded through CIMMYT, Mexico, was specifically regarding surveillance in the Tribal Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dr. Ali has regular interaction with farming community during his countrywide surveillance activities, including in the target study areas i.e., Haripur and Kohat. Dr. Ali has recently completed a farmers mapping project in which data was collected regarding the farming community of Mansehra district. Dr. Ali has already supervised three PhD and 11 M.Phil scholars under major supervision, while several PhDs and M.Phil as co-supervisor. Dr. Ali has been invited as keynote/invited speaker at many international conferences and has visited different parts of the world, including, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, India, Nepal, China, Mexico and Greece.
