One Day Workshop on Ethics in Journalism
Department of Communication & Media Studies, Hazara University, in collaboration with Independent Urdu, organized a one-day workshop on “Ethics in Journalism” for the students of Communication & Media Studies on October 20th, 2025.
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of journalistic ethics, particularly in the context of reporting and news dissemination.
Mr. Haroon Rashid, senior journalist, served as the chief guest of the event. In his address, he emphasized that ethics form the foundation of journalism and highlighted the fact that no reporter or news anchor can responsibly present or communicate news without having a strong understanding of ethical principles.
Later, Dr. Palwasha, Consultant at Independent Urdu, briefed the students about the paid internship program offered by Independent Urdu during the winter and summer breaks.
Dr. Majid Ul Ghafar also highlighted the departmental facilities and opportunities available to students for hands-on learning and skill development.
Prof. Dr. Ikram Ullah, Vice Chancellor of Hazara University, welcomed the guests and expressed hope that the workshop would bring greater clarity and awareness among students regarding ethics in journalism.
